Troubleshooting Guide for Chatwork Live Zoom Migration Network Diagnostics Failure

If the results of the Chatwork Live Zoom migration network diagnostics read "May not work properly," try the following troubleshooting methods:

1. Communication issues

HTTPS communication (failure)

HTTPS communication is the technology that allows encrypted communication with Zoom servers.

  • Possible causes:
    • A firewall or security software is blocking communication with Zoom.
    • The proxy server is not configured correctly.
    • The network has a strict security policy. (Especially company networks, etc.)

  • Solution:
    • Check the firewall settings: Verify if the domains *.zoom.us and *.zoom.com are allowed in your PC's firewall settings.
    • Temporarily turn off security software: Antivirus or other security software may be blocking communication. Disable it temporarily and check if there is any improvement.
    • Consult your network manager: If you are using a company network, contact the IT department or network manager, and check if the HTTPS (TCP port 443) communication to "*.zoom.us" is allowed.

WebSocket communication (failure)

WebSocket is a technology that provides two-way communication in real time.

  • Possible causes:
    • As mentioned earlier with HTTPS, a firewall or proxy server may be blocking WebSocket communication.

  • Solution:
    • Check the firewall or proxy: Contact the network manager and check if WebSocket communication is allowed. It is especially important that the proxy server supports the WebSocket protocol.

Data Channel communication (failure)

A Data Channel is used to send and receive data other than video and audio, such as screen sharing.

  • Possible causes:
    • In most cases, the firewall is blocking the User Datagram Protocol (UDP) that Zoom uses. Zoom preferentially uses UDP for high-quality communication.

  • Solution:
    • Open UDP ports: Request the network manager to allow communication to UDP ports used by Zoom (typically 443,3478, 3479, and the range 8801–8810).

2. Network quality and bandwidth issues

Upload/Download network quality

Quality refers to communication stability.

  • Possible causes:
    • The Wi-Fi signal is weak or unstable.
    • Someone else on the same network is performing large-volume communication (e.g., watching videos, playing online games, or downloading large files).
    • The internet connection itself is congested.
    • There is a problem with the generation or performance of your router.

  • Solution:
    • Switch to wired LAN: This is the most effective solution. If possible, connect to the router directly using a LAN cable instead of using a Wi-Fi connection.
    • Go close to the Wi-Fi router: If using Wi-Fi, move to a place that is closer to the router and has no obstacles (e.g., walls or microwave ovens).
    • Restart the router: Switching off the router and switching it back on after a few minutes may stabilize its operation.
    • Stop communication with other devices: During meetings, refrain from using PCs and smartphones connected to the same network.
    • Use the 5 GHz Wi-Fi band: If supported by your router, connecting to the 5 GHz Wi-Fi band may stabilize operations because it minimizes interference with microwave ovens and so on.

Upload/Download network bandwidth

Bandwidth refers to the communication speed (the amount of data that can be sent or received at once). Chatwork Live requires a certain speed to operate optimally.

  • Possible causes:
    • The internet plan you are subscribed to has a low speed.
    • The network is congested, and the original speed cannot be achieved.
    • The speed is reduced due to using a Virtual Private Network (VPN).

  • Solution:
    • Close unnecessary applications: Other applications running in the background of the PC (e.g., cloud storage synchronization or OS updates) may be consuming bandwidth. Be sure to close them during meetings.
    • Consider disabling the VPN: If you are connected through a VPN, try disabling it and check if the speed improves.
    • Review your internet plan: If bandwidth is consistently insufficient, consider switching to a faster internet connection.
